Hung up the phone, he started to think of other possibility. Was it possible that he spent the day with his college girlfriend? Not so unlikely since she mentioned about get together for dinner sometime.
‘Hihi, how’s everything?’ The familiar voice of hers came through from the other end of the phone.
‘Well, it’s actually not a big deal,’ he sat on the chair, rubbed his forehead with the rubber side of the pencil. ‘Thing is, I forgot what I did the day two week ago.’
Some noise also came through the phone along with her voice, seemed like she was punishing her pet dog for pooping on the floor. ‘Is that so. Anything special about that day? And why ask me?’
‘Well, nothing special actually…’he was kept interrupted by the barking sound. The people and the dog on the other end seemed to be extra busy. ‘It was I suddenly forget what I did that day so I just want to call and ask you, have we met that day?’
The barking sound became more like crying, maybe she had take out something for the special treatment. ‘Oh. No, we didn’t meet that day since you haven’t told me when shall we dine again. You dare running away from me you stupid dog, you’re so dead now.’
He sincerely hoped that the ‘stupid dog’ thing wasn’t referring to him, and at the same time, he grew tired over such conversation. ‘Uh, so I’ll call you then.’
‘Oh. Bye then.’ She hung up the phone in a sudden way, the only thing left in the phone was a vague sound of dog crying, lingered for a long long while.
He sighed, and sat deeper into the chair. Maybe I should just call her, thought him. She would remember it since she was always so well organized and keen in memory. As a matter of fact, that may be a better way to do at the first place, the only thing that kept him away from doing so was she might mistook that he used this as an excuse and wanted to talk her into getting back. But after a second thought, after the previous two meaningless phone calls, this concern seemed to be such a minor detail. But before he could dial the number, his phone rang. It was his mother.
